Clay Bell Hofmeister,  a resident of Central Florida, entered  the Mundial “Great Chess Tournament” a “Computer Assist” event. This is an International Tournament where he competed with 87 other players from other countries in the under 1500 FIDE rating section. Not only did he win the tournament; but, he also won $13,000 (US) plus a free trip for two to Linares where he will have the opportunity to play a match with Topolov. Congratulations Clay.

Endgame Nightmare

(Bd 1 Dave Lamb; Bd 2 Donny Bageant; Bd 3 Miguel Ararat; and Bd 4 Jason Kammerdiner)

Endgame Nightmare won 3 out of 5 matches finishing 6th   overall and 2nd Class A. Donny scored 3.5/4 (included a forfeit win when opponent didn’t show.  Dave score 2-1-2 for 3/5. Donny’s  rating went from 1917 to 1922 and mine (Dave) from1934 to 1944. On board 3 we had Miguel Ararat from Gainesville with 2.5/5 and a rating change 1894 to 1876 which included a loss to little John Ludwig, see pic, (9 years

old at  1640; his older brother has a rating  of 2545). On board 4 was Jason Kammerdiner with 3/5 (won against Quincy Jones from Jacksonville in last round whose rating improved from 1369  to 1391 Incidentally Quincy at the January Quad in Palatka upset Dave Lamb and drew Harry Bollinger and Jim Hedge!!)  . His (Jason) rating changed from 1827 to 1814.
